What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is Google’s cloud storage service that lets you store, organize, share, and access your files from anywhere using your computer or mobile device.
Requirements
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A computer or smartphone
- An internet connection
- A mobile phone number (recommended for verification)
- A recovery email (optional but recommended)
Step 1: Open the Google Account Sign-Up Page
- Open your preferred web browser.
- Visit https://accounts.google.com/signup.
- The Google Account creation page will appear.

Step 2: Enter Your Personal Information
Fill in the following details:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Desired Gmail address
- Password
- Confirm Password
Click Next.
Step 3: Verify Your Phone Number
- Select your country.
- Enter your mobile number.
- Click Next.
- Enter the verification code sent via SMS.
- Click Verify.
Step 4: Add Recovery Information
Google may ask you to add:
- Recovery email (optional)
- Date of birth
- Gender
Click Next.
Step 5: Accept Google’s Terms
- Read the Privacy and Terms.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Click I Agree.
Your Google Account is now created.
Step 6: Open Google Drive
- Open your browser.
- Visit https://drive.google.com
- Sign in with your newly created Google Account.
- Google Drive will open automatically.
Congratulations! Your Google Drive account is ready to use.
How to Upload Files
- Click the + New button.
- Select File upload.
- Choose a file from your computer.
- Wait for the upload to complete.
How to Create a Folder
- Click + New.
- Select New folder.
- Enter a folder name.
- Click Create.
How to Share Files
- Right-click a file.
- Click Share.
- Enter the recipient’s email address.
- Choose Viewer, Commenter, or Editor access.
- Click Send.
